The advantages of O-rings, let's see if there is anything you don't know

Time:2024-05-09 Preview:1

Compared with other types of sealing rings, O-rings have the following advantages:

-Suitable for various sealing forms: static sealing, dynamic sealing

Suitable for various materials, sizes and grooves are standardized, and interchangeability is strong

-Suitable for various modes of movement: rotational movement, axial reciprocating movement or combined movement (such as rotational reciprocating combined movement)

-Suitable for a variety of different sealing media: oil, water, gas, chemical media or other mixed media

By selecting suitable rubber materials and appropriate formula design, effective sealing for oil, water, air, gas and various chemical media can be achieved. The temperature range of use is wide (-60 ℃ ~ + 220 ℃), and the pressure can reach 1500Kg/cm2 when used fixedly (used with reinforcement rings).

-Simple design, compact structure, easy installation and disassembly

The cross-sectional structure of the O-ring is extremely simple, and it has a self-sealing effect and reliable sealing performance.

Since the structure of the O-ring itself and the installation part are extremely simple and standardized, installation and replacement are very easy.

--Various materials

You can choose according to different fluids: (NBR), fluororubber (FKM), silicone rubber (VMQ), ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM), chloroprene rubber (CR), butyl rubber (BU), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), natural rubber (NR), etc.

--Low cost

--Relatively small dynamic friction resistance

International standards for O-rings

A=American Standard S568, B=British Standard BS1516, C=China C92 Standard, V.S.P.G=Japanese Standard, R=French Standard O-rings are vulcanized in the mold, and are characterized by a circular shape and a ring-shaped cross section.

The size specifications of O-rings are defined by the inner diameter d1, ?????

The available size specifications are: cross-sectional diameter of about 0.35~40mm, and the inner diameter can reach 5,000mm and above.

Advantages:

Compared with other sealing components, O-rings have the following advantages:

● Simple structure, integral groove design, reducing processing and design costs.

● Compact structure and small parts.

● Easy installation, reducing risks.

● Can be applied to various sealing problems, such as: static sealing, dynamic sealing, single-acting and double-acting sealing.

● Wide range of material selection, suitable for most fluids.

● Large inventory and complete specifications, easy to maintain and repair.
