Star ring

Star seals are seals with four lips, shaped like an X, also known as X-rings, and their size is determined by the inner diameter ID and the cross-sectional diameter W.

Star seals are mainly used in dynamic sealing applications. They are suitable for reciprocating pistons, piston rods, plungers, etc.; and can also be used for shafts and spindles in swinging, spiral and rotating conditions.

Advantages of star rings (compared to O-rings)

Low friction, because it requires less pre-compression than O-rings. Less compression means less friction, less wear and thus longer service life.

Very good sealing effect, due to the better pressure distribution on the star ring section, a very good sealing effect can be obtained.

Due to its special cross-sectional design, it has good stability during reciprocating motion and avoids the possibility of twisting in the groove.

The lubricant stored between the two sealing lips improves the performance at start-up.

Since the mold parting surface is located between the two lips, the flash does not affect the sealing effect.
