For manufacturers who use silicone molds to produce products, silicone molds can quickly replicate the characteristics of products, greatly improve production efficiency, and save mold opening costs. However, there will be some problems more or less. It can be said that demolding is a key step when silicone products are molded.

The problem of silicone mold sticking seriously affects production efficiency. So, how can silicone molds be demolded to avoid sticking? Today, let's analyze the problem of silicone mold sticking.

There are generally two reasons for silicone mold sticking: the curing agent is poured into the mold without uniform mixing, and one piece is dry and the other is not dry when it is removed; the mold surface is not smooth enough, surface defects, and local chamfers are too small, which will cause sticking. Let's analyze the specific solutions for these two reasons.

1. Mold surface treatment

The mold needs to be processed before opening the mold. For example, if the mold surface is rough or a very complex mold is made, it must be polished or cleaned by yourself, and then the release agent is evenly applied. Commonly used release agents include vaseline, detergent, liquid paraffin, etc. In actual operation, different release agents can be applied according to the material of the mold.

2. Spraying mold release agent

During the molding of silicone products, spray the mold release agent on the mold that the silicone product does not stick to, but sometimes it is not easy to stick. Solution: Use a spray bottle or other bottle filled with clean water, spray it where you want the product to stick, and then mold it after spraying, and it will stick to the place you want to stick.

3. Mold temperature adjustment

Silicone molds generally stick to the lower half of the mold temperature, for example, when the upper mold temperature is 175 and the lower mold temperature is 165, it usually sticks to the lower mold when the mold is opened.

Experience summary: When encountering the situation of silicone mold sticking, do not replace the mold release agent with better demolding performance for convenience, or increase the amount and frequency of mold release agent use. Spraying too much mold release agent can easily cause the mold surface to be dirty, which will have a certain impact on the appearance of the product. Using too much mold release agent will also affect the adhesion ability of later silk screen printing and oil spraying.
