Rubber product manufacturers briefly explain how to distinguish between fluororubber O-rings and nitrile rubber

Time:2024-05-09 Preview:1

Nitrile rubber is made from butadiene and acrylonitrile by emulsion polymerization. Nitrile rubber is mainly produced by low-temperature emulsion polymerization. It has good oil resistance, high wear resistance, good heat resistance and strong adhesion. Its disadvantages are poor low temperature resistance, poor ozone resistance, poor insulation performance and slightly low elasticity. Nitrile rubber is mainly used to make oil-resistant rubber products. Referred to as NBR, it is a synthetic rubber made by copolymerization of butadiene and acrylonitrile. It is a synthetic rubber with good oil resistance and aging resistance. It is widely used in the manufacture of various oil-resistant rubber products, various oil-resistant gaskets, gaskets, sleeves, soft packaging, soft rubber hoses, printing and dyeing rubber rollers, cable rubber materials, etc. It has become an indispensable elastic material in the automotive, aviation, petroleum, copying and other industries.

The rubber molecule contains fluorine atoms. The C-F composed of fluorine atoms and carbon atoms has high performance. At the same time, fluorine atoms have a large adsorption effect, which enhances the performance of the C-C bond in the fluorocarbon molecular chain, and enhances with the increase of its fluorination degree. Fluorine atoms can better bind the C-C main bond, thereby ensuring the chemical inertness of the C-C bond. This special molecular structure makes fluororubber have excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, solvent resistance, fluorination resistance, vacuum resistance, oil resistance, aging resistance and other special properties.

Combining the explanation of the above two materials, we know that nitrile rubber has a higher density than fluororubber, so under the same conditions, fluororubber O-rings are heavier than nitrile O-rings.

In addition, using the combustion method is also a good way to distinguish between the two. Burning the two materials at the same time, the nitrile O-ring will ignite after burning for a while, while the fluororubber will only smoke and not burn.
