In the production, processing, storage, transportation and sales of traditional petrochemical industries, there are still problems such as dripping and leakage, which seriously threaten production safety and do not meet the expectations of the healthy development of the country's green economy. Therefore, the selection of appropriate sealing materials has become the primary task to solve the leakage problem. Fluororubber O-rings are increasingly being adopted by the chemical industry due to their excellent resistance to strong acids and high temperatures.

Among the current synthetic rubbers, the sealing rubber with relatively good comprehensive performance is fluororubber. Among rubber materials, fluororubber has outstanding heat resistance (200-250℃), oil resistance and chemical resistance, so fluororubber can be used as a sealing material in high-temperature environments or special workpiece fluids (such as phosphate esters) where nitrile rubber and polyurethane rubber cannot be used. The processing technology performance of fluororubber is not easy to master, and the price is relatively high, about 20 times that of nitrile rubber, and the cold resistance and hot water resistance are also poor. Recently, some companies have also developed fluororubber products with improved cold resistance and hot water resistance.

DuPont, a foreign rubber manufacturer, has developed perfluoroether rubber with better heat resistance and chemical resistance than ordinary fluororubber; but the price is as high as ten times that of ordinary fluororubber. Currently, there are mainly two types of domestic fluororubbers: Type 26 and Type 23. Type 26 fluororubber is the most versatile of the fluororubbers. It can work for a long time at 250°C and for a short time at 300°C.
