Perfluororubber refers to a ternary copolymer of perfluoro(methyl vinyl) ether, tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroene ether. It is also called perfluoroether rubber.

Perfluororubber has elasticity and the thermal and chemical stability of polytetrafluoroethylene. The long-term working temperature is -39~288 degrees Celsius, and the short-term working temperature can reach 315 degrees Celsius. It still has a certain plasticity below the brittle temperature, is hard but not brittle, and can be bent. In addition to swelling in fluorinated solvents, it is stable to all chemicals.

Perfluororubber is obtained by emulsion polymerization of perfluoro(methyl vinyl) ether, tetrafluoroethylene and a small amount of perfluoroene ether with peroctanoic acid saddle as dispersant and ferric persulfate-sodium sulfite as initiator at a pressure of 1.4~4.2MPa and a temperature of 40~100 degrees Celsius. It is vulcanized by diamine or 2,2'-bis(4-phenylhydroxypropane) and fluorine on the perfluorobenzene ring to undergo double nucleophilic substitution.

Perfluororubber has poor processing performance. It is used in places where fluororubber is not competent and the conditions are harsh. Make seals resistant to various media, such as rocket fuel, umbilical cord, oxidizer, nitrogen tetroxide, fuming nitric acid, etc., for aerospace, aviation, chemical, petroleum, nuclear energy and other industrial sectors.

In addition to excellent chemical resistance and heat resistance, the product is homogeneous, and there is no problem of penetration, cracking and pinholes on the surface. These characteristics can improve sealing performance, extend the operating cycle, and effectively reduce maintenance costs. The long-term life of Kalrez® products will minimize unexpected downtime, improve equipment utilization and optimize production capacity. The long-term effectiveness of perfluoroether rubber sealing parts can improve production efficiency and reduce maintenance costs. These total costs are much higher than the initial purchase price of the seal. Selecting and installing Kalrez® high-performance sealing products can extend the mean time to repair (MTBR) and reduce unscheduled shutdowns and maintenance costs. For some special industries, the loss caused by abnormal downtime is far greater than the cost of parts and labor for maintenance. Perfluoroether rubber products can effectively help users improve process stability, extend the working time of equipment, and obtain the greatest benefits for customers.
