1. Chemical stability Fluororubber has a high degree of chemical stability and is one of the best elastomers in terms of media resistance. Type 26 fluororubber is resistant to petroleum, diester oils, silicone ether silicate oils, inorganic acids, and a variety of organic solvents, but it is more resistant to low molecular weight ketones, ethers, esters, amines, ammonia, hydrofluoric acid, chlorosulfonic acid, phosphoric acid, and other types of inorganic acids with strong oxidation resistance, such as fuming nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid. It is better than type 26.

2. Excellent high temperature resistance

The high temperature resistance of fluororubber is the same as that of silicone rubber, which can be said to be the best among the current elastomers.

3. Good aging resistance, with excellent weather aging resistance and ozone resistance.

4. Excellent vacuum performance

It has good vacuum performance.

5. Excellent mechanical properties

It has good physical and mechanical properties. The compression deformation is large at high temperature, but compared under the same conditions, both nitrile rubber and chloroprene rubber are greater than type 26 rubber.

6. Good electrical properties

Type 23 fluororubber has good electrical properties and lower hygroscopicity than other elastomers, and can be used as a good electrical insulation material. Fluororubber is generally suitable for use at low frequency and low voltage. Temperature has a greater impact on its electrical properties. From 24 to 184°C, its insulation resistance decreases by 35,000 times.

7. Low gas resistance

Fluororubber seals have a high solubility in gas, but a relatively low diffusion rate, so the overall permeability is also low. It is reported that the permeability of type 26 fluororubber to oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide at 30°C is equivalent to that of butyl rubber, and is better than chloroprene rubber and natural rubber.

8. Poor low temperature performance

Fluororubber seals have poor low temperature performance due to their own chemical structure. For example, type 23-11 Tg>;0. The low temperature performance of fluororubber in actual use is usually expressed by brittle temperature and compression cold resistance coefficient. The rubber formula and product shape have a greater impact on the brittle temperature.

9. Poor radiation resistance

The radiation resistance of fluororubber is one of the poorest among elastomers. Type 26 rubber shows cross-linking effect after radiation, and type 23 shows cracking effect.

10. As a synthetic rubber, fluororubber has excellent chemical resistance, oil resistance, and temperature resistance, and its long-term use temperature is above 200C. Fluororubber has the characteristics of high fluorine content, strong C-F bond, and no saturated bond in its chemical structure, and has excellent temperature resistance and oil resistance. Fluororubber is called FKM in ASTMD1418, so FKM is used as a term to represent fluororubber. According to the rubber classification of SAEJ200/ASTMD2000, fluororubber is divided into "HK" materials. Fluororubber seals are currently widely used in the industrial field.
