Ethylene acrylate rubber AEM
Ethylene acrylate rubber is a copolymer of ethylene and methacrylate, plus a small amount of a carboxylic acid-containing vulcanized monomer. Ethylene acrylate rubber is a durable, low compression set rubber with excellent resistance to high temperatures, hot mineral oils, hydraulic oils and weathering. AEM has better low temperature elasticity and mechanical properties than ACM, but it is not resistant to low aniline oils (such as ASTM No. 3 oil) and polar solvents.
Temperature range
-40℃~+150℃, can reach 175℃ in a short time
Hardness range
Shaw A45 degrees to 80 degrees
Color
Black, or customer specified color
Application
AEM is often used in applications where performance requirements are higher than those of nitrile rubber and chloroprene rubber, or where the cost of using high-end rubbers (such as fluororubber) needs to be reduced. It is mainly used to make seals for automotive engine oils and transmission oils.
AEM has good elasticity, good tear resistance, wear resistance and low compression set, and is often used in shaft lip seals, especially in automatic transmission oils.
Special VAMAC® compounds can improve oil resistance, but at the expense of some low temperature performance
